A study conducted in 2014 by the National Endowment for the Arts, found that older adults who participated in both ‘Creating Art’ and ‘Attending Art’ had higher levels of cognitive functioning and lower rates of limitations to daily physical functioning, as well as lower rates of hypertension, relative to older adults who did neither type of activity.
Similar positive correlations are found in children. In 2015 Menzer found that engaging in various arts activities (such as… doing crafts) at a young age is associated with positive social and emotional behaviors, including empathy, sharing, and mood control.
Having access to a creative education is overall beneficial for everyone’s well being!
